Megan Phelps, apparent heir to the hate-mongering throne of her grandfather, Pastor Fred Phelps, shows off these signs she planned on hoisting tonight in front of the Fox Theatre. So why was everything called off? The Fred Phelps-helmed Westboro Baptist Church explained via an e-mail to the RFT today why they have canceled their protest. Sayeth the WBC: YES - it is canceled because of the lack of capacity to travel. YAY! Our God doeth all things well. He took that Parody and the words from his people and he dropped them ALL OVER THIS WORLD and then when it came time to make that trip, he shut up this country so they could hold the picket alone and do the work for us. :) YAY! Here is what he did: Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
God is knocking the crap out of this country and all the while he is continuing to give us great and effectual doors of utterance because the time is so very, very short - the destruction of this nation is IMMINENT!! YAY!!Ed Reggi, an activist and lead organizer for Show Me No H8, a pro-gay marriage group based in St. Louis, took to Twitter and noted that in response, he has called off his group's planned rally for Gaga/protest against the WBC as well. So everyone stay home tonight, that is unless you have tickets to the sold-out show. http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/atoz/2010/01/lady_gaga_protesters_supporters_cancel_tonights_protests_and_rally_outside_the_fox_theater_st_louis_wbc_westboro_baptist_church_fred_phelps.php Tags: lady gaga

Tila Tequila: Disgusting Little Girl When Tila Tequila first popped onto the scene, she was the harmless, if ugly, face of fame's grim seduction. In the wake of "fiancée" Casey Johnson's death, she now represents everything wrong with our modern era.
Casually tossing words like "worst" around is one of the unfortunate clichés of the current talky-head, bloggy media culture. But Tila Tequila, through her desperate attempts to latch onto and enable an heiress who was dealing with some serious addiction and psychological problems, has done enough for her to secure legitimate claim to the title in some category. Internet creation? Famewhore? Person in the World?
The final straw in a career's worth of despicable behavior came, fittingly via Twitter posts about meeting Johnson's family, and her extraordinarily display of causing a ruckus while Johnson's long-time friends came to rescue her animals are obvious attempts to capitalize on the publicity surrounding the death of a person she has known only since early December. Tila is either extraordinarily unwell herself or the most desperate attention-starved slug that the Celebrity Industrial Complex has ever spewed forth from its cogs.
By the time she and Johnson took up together and announced their "engagement" on December 7, the only reason we cared was because it was so obviously desperate and sad. Tila had latched onto the only person that would have her and the only person she could exploit for her own ends. Once being a busty, stupid thing on MySpace was enough, but now she was a gold-digging enabler whose only "shot at love" was a drug-addicted socialite cut off from her fortune. It was like Grey Gardens with a love connection, WiFi, and a webcam.

Could there be a more gay-friendly show with an entirely straight cast than The Golden Girls? A favorite of the LGBT crowd, not to mention those with weekend hangovers that love the ten-hour marathons on the Hallmark channel, The Golden Girls is proving relevant once again, if not for a 60-second lesson on the issue of marriage equality. It's pretty funny thinking that a show from the 1980s could have been so far ahead of its time that it took on the issue of gay marriage, almost two decades before it became a reality (and at that, only in a few states). But Blanche, Sofia, Dorothy and Rose hit the gay rights issues pretty hard. Which might be why the show created a generation of homosexuals, at least according to some witty folks. Here's the Girls' take on marriage equality. Blanche (Rue McClanahan) has a gay brother who wants to get married, and she can't understand why. She can accept him being gay, but why does he have to (in the immortal words of Beyonce) "put a ring on it." ( Read more... )Tags: gay / lesbian / rights

Gosselin nanny Stephanie Santoro--yes, the one who claimed to have sex with Jon in the family hot tub--has given another interview to In Touch Weekly: As their marriage unraveled, Jon and Kate Gosselin always insisted on one thing: They would make sure their kids got through it all unscathed. But that couldn't be further from reality. In an exclusive interview, the family's former nanny Stephanie Santoro tells Life & Style the children have been devastated by their parents' bitter breakup -- and the end of Jon & Kate Plus 8. Cara, one of the couple's 9-year-old twins, "used to sit and cry to me that she didn't understand and thought it was her fault," says Stephanie. "I would always tell her, 'It's not your fault, it's just something that happened. Mommy and Daddy will tell you more.'" But Jon and Kate can't even stomach being around each other. As a result, their kids -- twins Cara and Mady, and the 5-year-old sextuplets -- have been left confused and traumatized. "Some of the younger children once asked me, 'Are you going to be our new mommy?'" Stephanie says. "They don't know better." And the children are also coping with the loss of the Jon & Kate Plus 8 crew in the wake of Jon's unilateral decision to shut down the show. "Kate says the kids miss the crew," says Stephanie. "They grew up around them and loved interacting with the crew. I'm sure the kids are devastated."SOURCE
